About

The website is set up to help me focus on a more systematic approach to my artwork and help me structure my outputs. The site is curated to highlight current and recent work with an archive of older work. The collection is of work that I still enjoy looking at; whether finished or not. This is simply a portal to my portfolio and I hope it is of some interest, particularly if you have been to some of the places or buildings captured here. The work is a mix of plien-air sketches and studio drawings. Typically they are a mixture of the two, with sketches later developed up to drawings.

I like to draw what I see. It is a form of study. I have done this since childhood and over the years have amalgamated a rather tatty collection of sketches, drawings and watercolours that I like to keep. They help me retrieve that sense of place. The process of drawing drives deep the memory of place and so, for me, sketches and drawings are more significant than photography; although photographs can be a key tool for my artwork.
